Twitter launches a feature to report a list of problematic accounts

Social media Twitter is trying to provide the safest place for its followers. So on Monday 18 November 2019, Twitter issued a service feature to report hate speech. Just like existing hate reports, the difference in this report is that users can report a list of accounts that always do hate speech at once. Later this account list will be confirmed when the report has been made, allowing it to be seen publicly and enter Twitter Time Out until it is permanently deleted. This feature can only be applied to iOS users since yesterday. The next one will soon appear for Android users.

Steps to report

How to do it is quite easy. Just like reporting other hate speech reporting patterns. Users only need to click on the three-dot icon next to the list in question.

Then select the option to report a problem, then select it is abusive or malicious. Later Twitter will ask users to provide additional information that can contain reasons for reporting.

Wait a few hours, then Twitter will also send you an email within 24 hours to confirm that the report has been received. Along with recommendations on how to set up your Twitter security.

Cases of harassment on Twitter

Indeed, for a long time, there has been a list of problematic accounts, in which the perpetrators made a lot of harassing remarks to minorities and women.

Amnesty International in March 2018 recorded a fairly large number on this social media. They conducted research and the result was 7.1 percent of tweets equivalent to 1.1 million tweets containing harassing and abusive women.

84 percent of black women are the target of abusive speech on Twitter. And another 34 percent is aimed at women of color (such as Latinos, Asians, and mixed races).

Through this feature itself, users certainly hope that Twitter is truly committed to being the safest social media to communicate for all people.
